The select committee appointed under resolution of Representative Truscott of
Valley county to investigate the methods of the Montana Stock Growers
association made two reports last Friday to the house. Both were quite lengthy
and went into details to a considerable extend. The majority report, signed by
Woods, Luddy, Phelps and Ingersoll, found that the business of the association
was conducted in a fair and honest manner and vindicated the concern of all
charges that have been made against it by Truscott and the others who claimed
that its business methods were not exactly as they should be. The minority
report, signed by Truscott, chairman of the committee, charged that a shortage
of $398,056.10 was discovered and that the money could not be accounted for.
